St. Mary Catholic School strives to provide positive fitness and athletic activities that cater to the individual child’s abilities and talents. St. Mary Catholic School offers an environment for children to learn fair play and sportsmanship; hard work and the teamwork needed to achieve a common goal as one. We believe that these can be learned through competition and establish lifelong traits that develop strong character. It is the responsibility of the parents and coaches to foster and develop this attitude so that our children will grow into stewards of their faith.
 
Preschool
Students are introduced the fundamental skills of as throwing, catching, kicking, running, skipping, hopping, jumping.
 
Kinder- 2nd Grade
Students learn fundamental movement skills such as throwing, catching, kicking, running, skipping, galloping, hopping, jumping and use these skills in games while dealing with space and body awareness. Students are engaged in activities that develop basic levels of strength, endurance, and flexibility.
 
3rd – 5th Grade
Students will learn skills related to Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Flag Football, Softball, and Track and Field to name a few. Students will also be introduced to stretching and learning healthy habits for our bodies. Exercise and conditioning will be stressed to maintain a healthy body.
 
Middle School
Students will master skills related to Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Flag Football, Softball, and Track and Field to name a few. Students will understands basic components such as strategies and rules of structured physical activities including, but not limited to, games, sports, and dance. Students participate in physical activity both in and out of school while maintaining a healthy level of fitness.
 
St. Mary Catholic School is a member of the Greater Houston Catholic Athletic Association (GHCAA). We offer a wide variety of sporting opportunities including: cross country, soccer (co-ed), girls’ volleyball, girls and boys basketball and track (co-ed). Most sports are open to students in fifth through eighth grade, but third and fourth may participate in track.
